On-site DTF vs screen printing — which is better for events?
It depends on the job. On-site DTF is the better fit for most live events because it's full-color with no per-color setup, so you can offer variety and personalization on the fly. Screen printing wins when you're pressing hundreds of the exact same single-design shirt, where a manual press becomes the more efficient tool.
Why DTF usually wins the live line
DTF has no screen setup, no color limits, and no minimum per design. That means guests can pick from several designs, add a name, or choose different placements — and the same rig handles all of it. For an interactive, watch-it-happen activation, that flexibility is exactly what draws a crowd.
When screen printing still makes sense
If your event needs 500 identical staff shirts in one color, screen printing that run can be faster and cheaper per piece. It's a volume tool. We bring it when the math favors it — but for the come-pick-your-design experience, DTF is the star.
Can you run both at one event?
Yes. It's common to screen-print a bulk staff or volunteer order and run a live DTF rig for the guest-facing giveaway. One Merch Troop crew can cover both so you get volume where you need it and personalization where it counts.
